I still suck, but I had my cam today at work and it was leaving the bay, and I had time to stop.

Pennsylvania's Flagship, survivor of the Battle of Lake Erie in the war of 1812. The original flagship of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry's fleet was the Lawrence, but it took heavy damage, so he moved to the Niagara. After the battle, the Lawrence was scuttled in Misery Bay, in Presque Isle. Only the hull of the Niagara survived, and parts of that were used to re-construct the boat.

This thread should be 3 pictures max.

There is so little variation here that you could have taken 3, cropped it 50 different ways, and posted these exact same pics :sad2:

It's pretty comical, the number of bland pictures of a boat there are in this thread.

I like them...do you have any others from the set that you could post? (Maybe some more sideshots of the boat with some fog behind it...I liked those ones the most)

With such a dynamic range of colors in the pictures I would suggest using a desaturate/resaturate technique to really bring the subject out.

I'm not sure if the last couple posts are sarcastic or not.

these photographs would probably present themselves better with a grayscale or monochrome-sepia conversion and the use of "curves"

the photoshop levels tool is a slightly dumbed down version of a curves tool but is a good way to start

it will help your main subject and its details 'pop' more

    Concentrate on this shot:

It has a lot of potential. The shadows are starting to block up, so be careful about that, and the sky is blowing out a bit too. I don't know if that's in the original of the the blowout and contrast is from the JPG and resizing/uploading.

A slightly panoramic crop and then curves adjustment would be nice.

Depends on the mental POV you want from the image. I personally like it on the right. It feels desolate, and empty, a kind of Master and Commander feeling. Moving to the left would be optimistic and hopeful, more Christopher Columbus feeling.

    :dunno:

I think that's what you were getting at....?

I could go for 2 or 300 more pictures. How many slaves could it hold?

Slaves are great.....I think there should be a parody slave article for strobist where instead of using lighting stands the photographer just uses black people holding his flashes. Also instead of using pocket wizards his slaves just manually hit the flash button....motherfuckers have great timing.
