Okay just got a new Mac Book, hooray.

But the txt edit function sucks big time.
Should i get microsoft word, or is there a better (At least halfway decent) solution?

I love iWork but I don't think it has autorecover which has definitely screwed me a few times!

I used office for mac then switched to iwork. Office takes a year to open even with 2.5ghz and 4gb ram. That alone is why I switched.

I use Office 2008 daily and prefer it to iWork. I've never experienced any problems or crashing :dunno:

do all of you actually pay for this shit? Have any of you used OpenOffice? It is completely free, and in many ways better than the entire Microsoft Office suite.

    Next Question:
Say I have wrote and saved about 500 pages of a novel on/in microsoft word, saved to a disc.

Can i download that content to any of the above solutions? For editing purposes, ya know?

    Okay guys,
so i downloaded Iwork 30 day free trial. I am pretty much retarded, so bear with me please. When i do the spelling check on a document, it will highlight the mispelled word but gives no suggestions for correction????!!! just highlights it, no help. what am i doing wrong?

okay, control click worked, thanks. Is there any way to set it so that when i do spell check it automatically suggests the corrections? (like microsoft word does)

Control click is going to get old after awhile-especially on a laptop.

mine has the new multi-touch track pad, but you still have to hold control when right clicking to bring up the suggestions. I just seems more cumbersome than was micro soft word.....but who likes change, and this is all new to me. i'll give it some time (30 day free trial) before i decide how to feel.
