I'm not talking about the crazy shit bodybuilders do before comps, I'm just talking about the guys that take their shirt off at the beach and make the girls all go :eek3: :yum:

I know there's no such thing as target fat loss, and for the past month I've been going to the gym really hardcore with a kind of push/legs/off/pull/fill(core) routine, nominally watching my cal intake but mostly just eating healthy (staying away from pizza, beer, alcohol in general, taking whey + 1% milk every day, limiting carbs to mornings/post workout, etc).

I'm also running at least 3 miles six days of the week, so I'm running about 18 miles a week.

I haven't gone to get my bodyfat % checked, but i hear it's fairly inaccurate anyway.

I know that muscles will atrophy along with fat loss, and the idea I'm going for is if anything, maintain the LBM i have and slowly leak down my bodyfat % until i get the desired results, then working up from there.

    I'm 6'0 and I weigh 163.

    It all depends really.

Some guys have push 15% with a visible 4-pack and others are only 11/12% with nothing.

I would say if you work abs, to have them be visible and well-cut you would have to be ~ 10%.

i have always heard 10% but it does vary bc in calculating your bf they take into account your age and stuff.

MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY...I herad the same 10% is the base line. But again 12-14% show abs also, just depends on the person. I am at 12% and they haven't erupted. They are there and can be seen as a 5 o'clock shadow.

You look under 10% to me. Post your pic up!

For the generic guy 10% is the number everyone throws up for visible abs. It depends on where your body holds fat at though. I only have fat on my lower abs now and it's been slow getting rid of it

that cant be more then 9%.

keep in mind fat is measured as a % so if you compare a smaller guy to a bigger one 1% of BF is a smaller amount of fat.

ie, a 230# guy at 10% has 23 pounds of fat on him.
-5% to live = 13 pounds of fat

    a 160 pound guy at 10% has 16 pounds - 5% = 8 pounds.

because fat is pretty much entirely genetically distributed at that level, you are basically in a situation where at the same BF level, the bigger guy has more fat covering his abs then the little guy. Which also means its a bit easier for little guys to show abs at higher %'s then bigger guys.

i'm not understadning your logic here. since bodyfat is a percentage, it is on a RELATIVE scale, so comparing on an ABSOLUTE scale is irrelevant.

lets take an analogy of your example. you earn 10k, another guy earns 20k. you both are taxed 10%. you lose 1k, other guy loses 2k to taxes. but in the end you both still have 90% of your earnings.
