Heading to San Antonio w/ the wife and thinking about packing.....you never know.

I've been doing a little looking here and there, and as I understand it, I can legally travel throughout the state with a loaded handgun, concealed in either a glove box, under my seat, or any other place that is not in plain view, without a CHL.

Am I correct in this assumption?

Wouldn't dare...the only thing I do is speed. And I know not to volunteer the information that I have a gun.

The only time I will let it be known to the officer is if he asks for my DL and Insurance, and my insurance happens to be in the glove box with my loaded G19

Try to keep your paperwork and firearm separated.

I'm still not 100% I'm gonna do this, but I will keep this in mind. It probably would go under the seat, and the paperwork would stay in the glove box.

I've tried to find issues or examples of this happening and the law being upheld. I don't want to be a fucking test subject for the law.

The only bad story I saw was in the county Houston is in. I don't remember where I saw it though or I would link you to it.

It happened right after the law changed.

If he goes through Tenaha from Houston to SA, having his possession seized is probably appropriate.

Quit being a pussy and take it. You aren't gonna be the test subject.

I don't have a CHL and I always take mine. If I've had a few drinks, I unload and store the firearm and ammunition separately. Not sure if that actually makes a statutory difference, but it sure as hell would be better if it went to court.

    Here is the statute:

you warned him not to drive through a town that you didn't know the name of, almost as if he was supposed to know where that town was, which you don't know the name of, is (in relation to Houston/San Antonio)

So I have my Georgia FL which reciprocates (sp?) Texas so I assume conceal or open car carry is fine for me?

I am passing through next month.

    Nope.

Concealed is fine on your person, in your car, etc.. because you have your CCW/CHL.

The law that we're talking about is separate from Texas CHL laws and as UnNakedChef quoted above, having the handgun in plain view is an offense.

You didn't need it before either...the statute was just a little ambiguous. :mamoru2:

Open carry is a no no in Texas, The weapon must be concealed.
