I'll be goin to Japan for two weeks. I've scouted the area before and all that is really there is the hotel gym that has a ton of cardio equipment and no heavy weights. Now I'm really concerned because I fell off the lifting wagon and just got back on. I've gotten strength back and my body recovers very quickly from workouts. I'm really concerned about not going for two weeks at this point in time. It really slows my momentum.

Do you guys have any suggestions? They have small dumbbells so I might try to do some workouts where small dumbbells would suffice but as far as I can remember they were just those colored lady dumbbells. Should I just try some HIIT and cut hard w/o heavy lifting to shed some fat for two weeks? I got somewhat decent strength(do 100 lb dbs for reps/235 squat for reps).

Really bummed out about being forced to go on this trip.

There MUST be a gym someplace close. Find it and go meet the locals!

Not really. Spent ~6 hours scouting the place already. Japan is weird.

Did you talk to locals to find out if there was any place close? Sorry I'm skeptical :mamoru:. I imagine those zany japs work out once in a while too, besides the jumping jacks before work in the mornings

Spent two weeks there before. Went out alot. Didn't see a single person that looked like they ever lifted weights. Doesnt seem popular in Japan at all. I'm sure I could find one but I'm sure it would be the only one around and it'd be a good 30-45 minutes away. I can't afford all that taxi money and time.

I'd probably try to just cut some fat while maintaining best I could with bodyweight exercises. Get some hot asian broad to sit on your back while you do pushups :eek5: she won't be able to resist the american muscle.

If you in a rural area, I doubt you will find much. Tokyo and Kyoto both have a couple gyms though.

I would just try and cut down a bit while your out there. The food is light, so that will work in your favor. Aside from that just do some running, pushups, crunches, etc... Do some wall sits for legs, grab a couple heavy things (2 large bags of rice or something which are nearly 40lbs each) and do some lunges.

It is only 2 weeks. Watch the diet and be creative. Worst case scenario I think you should still be able to maintain for the most part.

No, it says: "Please stand on my head. I intend to exercise."

I don't know how to say squat in Japanese (probably "sukuato") and I don't know shoulders either...

Try: "Gym (but say it like gymu) wa doko desuka?" Or "Kono toshi, gym ga arimasuka?"

Where is the gym? and Does this town have a gym?
