What's the difference between an OEM version of windows and a storebought copy of windows?

Also, if you have two video cards can you plug a monitor into each and use them? (Not in SLI/Crossfire mode, I know that won't work.)

    Thanks all.

The only difference between oem and retail is microsoft support.

And I haven't done it, but other people in here have posted about
using dual cards with dual monitors, so it should work.

The biggest difference is that you can save $100 buying the OEM copy. The M$ support is crap anyway.

You don't need 2 video cards to use 2 monitors. More cards these days have 2 monitor ports. Either a VGA and DVI or 2 DVI. And most come with adapters so you can use a monitor with VGA on the DVI port(s).

I knew you could use two monitors on one video card but I want to build a system with two video cards. I'm looking at serious gaming, especially at Supreme Commander, which supports dual monitors.

Thanks all for the help btw.

I'm wondering if you can run the same game across two video cards, though.

I think that would be up to the game itself.

Try googling the game name with "dual video cards/dual monitors" after it.
