Can you get two power books to talk to eachother through a firewire?

If by talk to each other you mean connect one to another as an external hard drive then yes.

yeah my friend and I only have a firewire and want to transfer some movies. We're plugged into one another but cant figure out how to get them to actually talk. Nothing is popping up.

All you have to do is shut down the computer you want to pop up as an external hard drive, while leaving the other computer on. Connect the two computers with your firewire cable. Start up the computer, and immediately hold the "t" key until you see a firewire logo appear on the screen. That computer will then show up on the desktop of the computer it's connected to as an external drive. Transfer whatever files you want and make sure when you are done you click eject before unplugging the cable.

i should goto my old college and boot up one of the mac pros they have in the library. it's funny because they had quicksilver g4s there for a long time, then got g5s and now macpros since i left. only the artsy people would use them...maybe about 3 people a day, lol. they have about 8 of them sitting in the corner.

so, i could grab a bunch of apps off of those macs doing this?
