tv tuner card with hdtv composite jacks?

    does anyone make one? i seen ati has a card but i think it said it only did over the air hd broadcasts

    they are all only over-the-air to the best of my knowledge.

    No, there are several HDTV cards that capture HD over cable. The Fusion HDTV (which I have) and the Sasem USB. These cards capture the raw (unencrypted) HD streams broadcast over cable.

    There are no commercial TV tuner cards that can capture an analog HD stream. Simple reason being it would take an enormous amount of processing power and a very fast RAID0 setup to do it. So it's not practical for the average consumer and thus would not sell.

    so with someone like me, who has DirecTV, and just the regular tuner boxes, what would be the steps for HD on the comp?

    would i need the DirecTV hd tuner also?

    I thought that DirecTV HD output was encoded/encrypted?

    AFAIK, there are no steps to take. It's simply not possible to get HD from DirecTV onto your computer.
