So I've narrowed it down to these, and 1080p isnt in issue... Which do you guys recommend?

    Toshiba TheaterWide 56" DLP HDTV
    56HM66
    $1615

    Samsung 56" DLP HDTV
    HL-S5686W
    $1615

Sony 55" Grand WEGA Rear-Projection LCD HDTV
    KDF-55E2000
    $1500

Hitachi UltraVision 55" Rear-Projection LCD HDTV
    55VS69
    $1100

I'm leaning towards the Samsung b/c my buddy has one and I love the picture and overall it's a great TV. What do you guys think?

I'm so tempted to buy the Sony 55" Grand WEGA but damn the price on that Hitachi is nice.
The more I look at the features the Hitachi has, the more I like it.

do tell...I've never really been a Hitachi fan so I didn't really look all that well into that unit as much as the others

I would get a DLP set over a rear-projection LCD set any day of the week. RP LCD suffers from horrible black levels, the screen door effect, and everything looks washed out. Just make sure with the DLP set that you don't see rainbows.

The rainbow effect is possible on any DLP TV. The newer models get better and better, but some people still see them.

    true.
It all depends on how fast your brain perceives visual images.

Good choice. I was doing TV research recently and the Samsung 56" DLP is my #1 choice right now.
