I only use my television for gaming on my PS2 and N64. Is Hd needed? I don't think i'll be able to take advantage of it. What will give me the best quality picture w/my PS2. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't think so either. I don't have a PS/2, but I believ it doesnt have progressive scan output. Hopefully someone else will know.

All of the current game systems support progressive scan output but it is dependent on the game itself. The PS2 supports 480p. I don't know about the Game Cube but I would suspect 480p support at a minimum. The Xbox supports 720p. I highly doubt the N64 supports 480p. An EDTV (Extended Definition TV) supports 480p and should give you a better picture with the PS2 than an old interlaced TV. HDTV is not needed unless you play Xbox games that support it.
