While I was at the gym today on my birthday I was just thinking how most of the people around me, are in their teens and lifting pretty heavy for their age. I kept thinking more and thought about how, as you get older, there is much more wear & tear on the body.

I'm wondering should I be concerned at this age with the amount of weight I'm lifting? I feel as if I should start everything from scrap again and start with 25lb weights and make sure my form is correct and proper, so I don't put myself in some type of permanent injury. :hs:

Dude, it really depends what your goals are.

If your goal is to get absolutely massive then it really isn't "optimal" health-wise at all but you have to accept that.

You've already got two people your age in this thread saying they have aches, injuries etc. That's not to say that you can't be healthy and lift heavy - just that you are increasing your chances of injury by always pushing your body to the max, gaining more weight etc. It's up to you whether you think it's worth it or not. Personally I'd be worried if I had joint problems that needed ibuprofen when I'm only in my 20's.

If you want to get more athletic, build endurance or become better at sports etc then something like crossfit might be a good idea, rather than an all-out mass building routine.

Just quit. In the end it will all be for not, you will die and old crippled man, that shits his man diapers. Its not worth it in the slightest. In your casket they will say, there went a man who wanted to be big and strong, when he died he was neither. Seriously, just quit.
