Every year I'm seeing more drag racers go from running gas and an intercooler to running methanol non-intercooled. I had a methanol non intercooled car on the dyno this week and captured some good data off of it but thought I'd see what OT would say about the pros/cons of the two. :wiggle:

I'll post some cool pictures of the dragster tomorrow at work :)

Methanol runs a lot cooler than gas but burns around twice as fast. Its A/F ratio is right around 6.4:1 as compared to 14.7:1.

For a drag car I don't think it would get hot enough fast enough to really warrant an intercooler when the methanol will keep the heat down a lot.

I hope this dragster will run decent E.Ts and not one of those pathetic things than run 8-9 second E.Ts, that is so dumb, especially with methanol and a turbo.

Your exactly right. It burns cooler but air intake charge temps were still 300*.

We've found regardless of the fuel that your using, you need to have an intercooler period.

I just got back from the track and we managed, on the 2nd run, to get a 6.84 @ 196MPH AND it shook the tires the entire run :) so there is lots of room for improvement still!

Were going to get a better catch can system for it before the divisional race at Seattle next weekend.

Hopefully we'll even be able to put an intercooler on there too.
