So I've begun eating a lot more Tuna than I used to. I've been eating about 2 cans a day for the last month and I'm wondering what you guys think about the safety of the mercury levels. I'm sure some of you will say something along the lines of "who cares, just eat it it's a great source of protein," and I'm not interested in hearing from you. It seems to be a semi-serious health risk when too much is ingested. Your thoughts?

I posed this question to the government of ontario department in charge of publishing food guidelines for canadian sport fish and their response was along the lines..
Canned tuna generally is canned from Jack or young tuna that has not had the opportunity to achieve levels of mercury that you should be concerned about.

Just in case anyone reads this old thread.
    New studies suggest otherwise.
Consumer reports did an article last month
    http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/...nuary/food/mercury-in-tuna/overview/index.htm

As a broly, I would consume 2-3 cans a day and based on speaking with government labs back in the day, it wasnt a concern.

Im changing diet to chicken mostly and limiting tuna to 2-3 cans per week.
