I bought the mounting kit for the car and but the receiver itself is too damn deep for the car (1995 Buick Lesabre). Even if I shove all the cables out of the way in the cavity, the back end of the receiver its right up against a bar and it physically won't go in any further without cutting off this beam. What can I do? All the radios that supposedly fit this car have the same size code, so I don't know why this wont fit. Can I pick up a deeper mounting kit that sticks out a bit without looking tacky?

what kit did you get??? we use what we call a box/extension kit... it's a metra kit, and the model is 99-4544 iirc... and you snap on the deepest trim.

What is this bar made out of. In some vehicles it is easy to cut the bar out and increase the room for a head unit drastically.

is this the little support hole for the peg on the back of the radio? if so, take your hammer, using the top of the head, and know the shit out of it, breaking this support out. you'll have room then.

yea GM has the bar/peg design and you need to cut that out of the way.

cut it. it's there to hold the factory head unit up from the rear.
