My buddy has this older iMac, as well as a PC. The printer (HP PSC 1401) is connected through USB to the PC, and the Mac is connected to the same switch as the PC. How do I install it is as network printer if I don't know the "internet address or DNS name"

Would getting the drivers from hp.com do any good?

you need to make sure that printer sharing is enabled on the PC

the mac will need to be able to connect to the PC via its IP address to be able to print. I've never done this before but i've seen it work.

So I put the PC's IP for the DNS name?

then do I set the name to the printers share name?

I think you have to setup the mac to IP print and set it to the pc's IP address.
