okay, i'm trying to make my final decision on which DSLR to buy.

I have thrown away the idea of the Nikon D100, so it's only a Canon race now.

Get the Canon EOS 10D, or the Canon Rebel Digital. There aren't that many differences, other than one having a mag body and the other one being plastic. I'm not a bigtime photographer. I just want something that will work a little bit better than my olympus c-3020z at the race track.

Can anyone tell me why i should spend more money on the 10d?
I know i'm not buying the best dslr in the world, but i just don't want to be pissed that i spent $1600 and didn't get the $2200 model and forever kick myself in the ass....

    any suggestions?

the 10D is better in every way...unless there's no possible way you can afford the 10D, I wouldn't even consider the rebel

Just the metal body is worth the extra cost.

care to elaborate? i look at it this way. the metal body is heavier, and therefore more annoying.

i'm having trouble justifying the expense of the rebel, let alone the 10d...

and i only have to justify it to myself....

the 10D body is not metal, it's a magnesium alloy case

    and it weighs very little

    Weight (inc. batteries) 875 g (30.9 oz)

    it costs $1500, not $1600

    plastic is gay

    the body is very lite
but with any SLR , when you attach a lens it weighs alot more.
then add in the extra battery grip+2nd battery

it's worth it for the quality you'll get

i'm talking canadian dollars when i talk price. i can get the rebel for $1600 with the lens, or the 10d without the lens for $2200.

and i want to know opinions about features other than the mag/plastic body. are they worth getting.
and i know the 1d is an even better camera, but i don't see people telling me to get that instead.

that's 'cause even though the 1D is nicer, the 10D is still a very good camera for the price...i don't think i can say the same for the rebel.

If I couldn't justify the price of the 10D I think I'd stick with something like the Canon G3 and save myself alot of money :dunno:

not everyone is a professional photographer or would need the 10D.

Even you guys have to admit that the Digital Rebel produces just as nice photos as the 10D.

Remember the D30 & D60 were plastic as well.

Personally, I'd go for the Rebel and spend the money saved on lenses.

Ballast, if a little wait isn't an issue - you'd save a lot of $$$ by buying through the US. Try www.ecost.com (they have a Canadian Checkout, Canadian Pricing, taxes and shipping) and the final price will be below Canadian retail.

Other retailers with Canadian Checkouts can be found at
