So, yeah, you've seen this picture before, but it's the only real headshot that I have to practice PP on. I took to heart the advice I got from some of you the last time I posted this and tried to improve it. Let me know what you think.

IMAGES REMOVED! YOU GUYS ARE ASSHOLES! FUCK OFF!

    Just kidding....

I'd like to but I'm afraid I'm not sure the best way to go about that.

    Clonestamp?

Are you talking about just using a shallower DOF and moving the model away from the background? That would have been great to do, but space was so limited I wasn't able to.

What I had planned was to use my third flash to light the background, hopefully blowing it out, but I forgot my sync cord for it, so I had to do with what I had.

I like the original better. you've done a good job editing out her stray hair, but it looks like you also decided to edit out some of her skin tone. face looks way overexposed to me. im no pro though, so lets see what other have to say about it.

The one thing I do notice is the overexposed face. I wasn't going to say anything, but I guess i'm not only one to notice :hs:

it appears you made her skin tone on her face a lot lighter/whiter and smoothed it out too much. when cleaning up the hair that went in front of her eye, you missed some on her eyelid.

i think you cooled teh image too much. I prefer the warmer skin tones on portraits.

good job on cloning out that hair though. that was killin me.

What? Who the fuck is that?

Anyway, looks like I failed at this one... I'll go back and try again, warm up the WB, cut back on the skin smoothing and watch the overexposure on her face.

Here's a question I have though what's the correct way to sharpen an image in photoshop? Usually I just leave the sharpening sliders on default in LR, but I have no clue what I should be doing in PS. Is there a standard technique that would help me out? What radius, ect to use as a baseline? Use the unsharp mask, ect?

    Thanks for all the input!

for the radius, i usually go 1.6-1.8px, and adjust the amount to find a good balance of sharpness before getting that godawful distortion... haven't had anyone tell me i over-did it yet. :dunno: though i usually do my sharpening in ACR before sending it to PS for the final touch ups.
