So I have an olympus m:robe 500i which uses the same hd as an ipod. I am trying to use an IDE adapter I got off ebay to connect the hd to my desktop so that I can reformat it. I posted on the m:robe forums where they seem to have a fix for this, but it takes them forever to respond back. I am having trouble getting the my desktop to "see" the hdd drive when connected with the adapter.

Here is a copy of my post on those forums:
Anyone know why the hell my computer is having issues even seeing the drive?

Um...hard drives don't have MAC addresses; only networking equipment has MAC addresses. Is the adaptor you bought supposed to make the hard drive look like it's plugged into the network, as far as your computer can tell? If not, then it sounds like both the drive AND the adaptor are fux0red.

Post a picture of the hard drive; maybe we can come up with a better way to plug it into your computer.
