Trouble Connecting to wireless Router v. Airport Extreme

    so when I click on the icon it says I am connected to the network and even shows the signal strength. However I cannot run any web based applications ichat firefox safari etc...

    Any ideas?

    The airports (and all wireless networks) will give off wifi signals even if they arn't connected to the internet.

    Back when i was using an airport it really helped if I had my Internet connect open. Dunno why, but just in the background, when it says "Connected to the internet"

    It will connect to other networks with no problem. I think I will try unsecureing the router and see what happens then. I have no trouble connecting to my neighbors unsecured NetGear router.
