There are about a million of these damned things.

What are the best/most popular tripod+head combos?

Something I could order from Amazon (shipped and sold) for <$300-400 would be preferable, since I'd kind of like to use it for family pics on saturday.

edit: oh I see where to screw it on. that can't be pleasant for the tripod, can it?

I'm hoping you guys will recommend something awesome that's shipped and sold by Amazon.com so I can use it on saturday. I don't NEED one on saturday, it would just be nice.

^^ +1. The Bogen 055XPROB and 488RC2 combo is the best you're gonna find for $300.

That was the combination I was originally set on until I decided it was too heavy for my needs. I ended up spending about twice that on something much more portable.

If you don't mind the size/weight, it's a great combo.

I got the 486rc2 head for 60 bucks and 2021 BPRO legs for like 120 I think. And it is an excellent setup. I think supra has a similar setup if not the same

I'm sure it's not that bad, but I just knew that if it was big/heavy I wouldnt' take it with me. The setup I got folds down to 17" and weighs less than 3lbs.

Jesus tripods cost this much too? :wtc:

I was hoping like $1-200 would get me a usable one...

    486RC2 Head 60$

legs you can get used or new for under 150. Just dont skimp out on legs, stick with something reputable like the 055XPROB posted for $150

I think not, I think a decent bogen setup was the general consensus.

Well there's not much more to say than the 055 legs + 488 RC2. Going to be the best performance in that price range. I have the 488 RC2 head and love it, it's sitting on some Vanguard aluminum legs that are comparable to the 055 without the fancy tilt stuff. It's good and solid.
