I'm taking a cruise later this month and planning on carrying my 40d with a couple lens'. I need a nice collapsible set of legs that will fit in a carry on luggage piece (22" methinks).

    So far, I'm looking at:

    Gizto 2540
    -fucking expensive
    -folded size is 22" exactly
    -4lbs?

    Feisol CT-3442
    -cheaper
    -folded size 19" :bigthumb:
    -2.31lbs

both legs will hold enough weight for the glass i'll be throwing on it. has anybody heard anything bad about the Feisol? both specs and price look better at first glance. couple people on FM were recommending them, i'm just concerned about the sturdiness, and if that's an issue.

    HALP!

hopefully a whole lot while i'm in the caribbean (8 days) and then probably a decent amount when i get back to phx. the pod i have now is way too heavy to take on hikes, etc

Well seeing as you have another tripod, I see nothing wrong with the cheaper one. It's a specialty item, and won't be ur primary one.

doesn't look like it. I don't use mine that much anyways. And it would keep things lighter.

I have a Sunpak 4300 Pro B that I carry with my camera gear pretty much everywhere

    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/475735-REG/Sunpak_620430B_4300_Pro_B_Tripod.html

it holds up a 40D + grip + 100-400L with ease, and the quick release is a nice feature

oh and if you're too cheap to buy a monopod it will work for that too :o

Center column is an option on their standard fullsize tripods... I'm thinking that if I can get it for the CT-3442, then I'm sold.

ho snap, from the feisol website: "This tripod series can install general mount base, center column, or 75mm semi-sphere leveling base. "

now to figure out how to order one of these :o

might want to call the TSA at your airport. there have been a lot of threads where TSA officers won't let you carry on tripods at all. Some don't care about carbon fiber tripods, but wont' let you bring metal ones on.

    :dunno:

figured you might want to ask before you check your bags, then try getting on the plane & find they won't let you carry your new tripod on.
