So i got a porter cable for Christmas from autogeek with the LC pads. I REALLY REALLY REALLY need to get some more products. What I have just isn't cutting it. I used meguairs #4 and #9 for cutting and I didn't have a polish to help bring it out and use NXT as the wax. I used the orange and black pad. orange for cutting black for polishing. I really found out that I need to learn a lot more. I practiced on the miata before I move to the BMW. The pics below on the after shots the paint is really shining, I just havent figured out how to get the shots to show the true shine. Any help would be appreciated. I only did the passenger side today. I know next time I will be taping EVERYTHING up. all of the soft top will be taped. I got some on the top and still didn't get it all off....not sure if i will.

    Before pics:

The whole car was just about like this:

    Afters:

this actually shines very well, the pic looks dull but it isn't

I use Optimum Compound and Polish quite a bit and get great results. Really you can't go wrong with their whole lineup.

I agree with the Optimum suggestion. I'd also suggest you use a polishing pad (like the Meguiars yellow or Lake Country white) before going to the black pad, which is usually a finishing. #4 is meant for rotary use and the PC really can't break it down completely, and using #9 with a finishing pad isn't enough to clean the paint up after #4 and a cutting pad.

Definitely a big improvement in the swirls, you just need an intermediate step to get the finish you want.

thanks Scott and everyone. Will be doing some shopping tonight :)

I didn't use the white because I didn't have a product to really use it with. Thanks for the suggestions.

Now, where is the cheapest place to get these products.
