Anyone dealt with TriCare on infertility testing? I've already made about 5 calls with little to no success. I got a referal from my primary care doctor tho. My husband went to see his military doctor for something unrelated but mentioned this issue and was told he should wait it out a little longer. :hs: Great, how freakin long is "a little longer"?

Inforpics might have some insight into Tricare. My single experience with them blows. I signed up for dental insurance, and they turned me down, all in the same morning.

They apparently like to say no before fully comprehending exactly what it is you are asking for.

You should be able to get it covered if your PCM refers you.

after you have the referal, call tricare to make sure it's in the system. That normally takes 2 or three days. If its not in the sytem in that time, you should be able to have your PCM call it in or fax the referal.
Then in a another 2 or 3 days, you should get the approval.
Then they should call you in a week or so, sometimes longer sometimes shorter to set up an appointment.
If no response in 3 weeks, call and bug them.

Boo! So this is the answer I finally get, I have to go to some base in TEXAS like 7 hours away because the fertility center here in ABQ NM isn't covered. I mean I know they can, but can they do that?

i would be happy getting the test and make the drve. tricare sucks. find something worth doing there along with the test, take a few days leave, and enjoy the trip. ABQ can't be THAT entertaining

Its not just one test, and its not just one trip. Thats the problem, i'm not going to texas to pick up a baby i'm going to figure out why I can't have one. That can take years.

Well he was the one that refered me to the fertility place here. But when the referal went through my PCM called me back to tell me that TriCare doesnt use that place and they had another location for me. I was fine with that as the same thing just happend regarding physical therapy (i was in a car accident) well the physical therapy place is across town.... not in another state. My PCM says I can go where I want. And TriCare can not pay if they don't want. I just can't see how they can send me to another state for something that will take time. We can't take leave every other week.

No, you can not just go anywhere. They have to take TriCare and you might end up paying a percentage if its not at the referal place. And there is a distance rule as well .. they are not supposed to send you to another state, unless they have no choice.. but if they do.. guess what.. THEY PAY FOR THE TRAVEL!!

OK, I found some info concerning this topic and wanted to post for all.
The first step you want to ensure is that you are listed in DEERS in the correct region.
But if you follow the link I provide and read page 7 it will explain travel and range limits on referals

    https://www.hnfs.net/NR/rdonlyres/2F1759BD-74E5-481E-ADF2-2832FF98A498/0/benehandbkfinal012706.pdf

basically 100 miles for speciality care and they will give you some cash if its further.
