    I'm taking

    D700
    14-24
    28-70
    maybe 135 f/2

Should I pick up a cheapo 70-300 (non VR) for like $150 for some longer landscape pictures? I figure I'll be stopped down to f/8 or so on most of them and it may come in handy. It's a pretty lightweight lens, I think I may grab it and then sell it when I get back...

Thoughts on this lens or lenses of this type? Quality should be decent at f/8-f/11 right?

if it helps, I'll be touring europe and shooting all kinds of things, I figured it may come in handy to have more than 70mm

i've taken my 70-200 everywhere i've gone, and rarely used it. London, Ireland, non-safari parts of South Africa ... anything with pretty landscapes, it never left my bag. 10-22 and 24-70 were the only ones i used.

i'm leaving for New Zealand tomorrow, and am not even taking the 70-200 with me. :o

I recently took a trip to nepal and took:

    50mm
    24-70
    sigma 100-300
    16mm fish

I used them all about equally. I do a lot of traveling, but don't mind the extra weight of all my lenses. I lug them around in my carry-on trekker classic.
