There is an item in my trash that i cant get rid of. Its a html. Is there a way to by pass the trash when deleting a file? Like shift del on windows? Or is there a way to delete is via another method like deleting a file via MSDOS on windows.

    Any input is greatly appreciated.

Whenever there's something I can't delete, or the computer won't let me delete it I try and quit whatever program is using it. If it still won't delete I relaunch the finder and I'm usually able to get rid of it. Hope that helps.

its the delete command. Open up Terminal, and type:
    cd .Trash

you will then be in your trash & can try detelting the file with:

    rm <filename>

    to delete a folder use

    rm -R <foldername>

Be warned it probably wont ask you if you are sure, so get it right..
