i had a good back/trap day on friday and im still recovering from it. but today (sunday) i wanted to do thighs/biceps but would the bar being heavy on my upperback/trap affect my trap recovery when sqautting?

    why wouldn't you squat.

you're traps aren't doing any work.

The bar shouldn't be sitting on your traps anyways.

I was under the impression it was supposed to sit on the shelf formed when you squeeze your shoulder blades together, so it sits on the rhomboids. That's where it sits for me, I've never had traps too sore to put the bar there.

I dunno I'd be worried holding the weight there.

you are under the right impression, although some people including most oly lifters keep the bar up higher....it comes down to how much forward lean you are going to squat with.

i place the bar exactly where the digit 1 is on the pic grouch posted.

during my squats, there was a homeless woman who usually comes in the gym just to shower (she pays the membership fee though). our gym is in progress of getting a makeover in the locker rooms, showers, toliets, etc. so this homeless woman went nuts cause its been about 2 weeks already for this new stuff to come in. all i heard was "i have my rights!...there are people dying out there at new orleans!!!" i was thinking: wtf does that got to do being at the gym? well, turns out she wanted to speak with the manager (owner) and he wasnt present at the time being.

cliffs: homeless woman went nuts at gym, blabbed about hurricane katrina out of no where, insulted the employee, made big scene cause manager wasnt present.

when your traps a sore , perhaps experiment with lower bar position.

like gnp ralyks have said, I squat with the bar relatively lower than traps

it probably won't damage them, but ultimately it will put you off of your squat and you probably won't go for the win as much.

Sometimes though I find my adrenaline kicks in and after a warmup set and a few stretches I can work out the pain and carry on as normal.
