I just feel that everything by Sandisk is way overpriced than what it should be.

Transcend has really nice 150x speed SD cards which are the equivalent of 20mb/s. Sandisk's Extreme III offer that same speed of 20mb/s. The prices are $45 and $140 respectively. I'd rather not pay $100 more for the same quality.

:hsugh: considering 8gb ext3 cards are under 100

you also get a lifetime warranty, free data recovery software and proven reliability. and if you shop around they can be found for quite decent prices.

I don't buy Nikkor lenses because they're overpriced, thats why I buy Quantaray and Phoenix lenses, it's the same thing.

wow you have a card that has never broken? crazy dude.

we take cards in for data recovery, we usually get about 10 per month. I'd say about 1 in 40 is sandisk.

and considering sandisk owns at LEAST 80% of the market (here at least), that is impressive.q

I also have two 256 CF cards that have never failed for about 6 years but I think those are Sandisk. That and the camera was just given to me by a relative though :dunno:

Anyway I caved and got an 8gb Extreme III I managed to find at Beach Camera for $74 with a $40 rebate

I don't trust anything besides Sandisk. People have had good luck with other brands, Lexar and Transcend being 2 of them, but I won't trust them if it is a shoot or set of shots I just can't lose.

I'm going going to go as far and say others aren't reliable as most are, but the cost difference isn't that much for the added benefits.

in 8 years I've had one card go bad, a lexar. They replaced it, with a fucked up card. All my sandisk cards from 00 still work just fine.

Well I got the 8gb Extreme III the other day. I gotta say this deal was amazing

First of all it was $74 with a $40 rebate. Then it came with a bonus card reader which is really cool because I hate having to have my camera taking up room on my desk when I want to transfer photos. And it even came with recovery software for memory cards!

None of that was included in the product description (besides the rebate)
