after watching the Florian/Thomas fight, the knee injury freaked me out. my question is, are those type of injuries just freak accidents? is there any way to prevent them or is it just the luck of the draw?

Yea, your gonna eventually fuck something up.

I've broken my foot several times.

I've broken my elbow(popped bad in a arm bar).

    Multiple sprains and pulled muscles.

    Comes with the game.

Tonight, I was baiting some dude for an armbar, my opposite hand got caught in a bad position so I couldn't defend properly. Well, not only could I not defend, but I couldn't use that hand to tap either, so my arm got bent further than it should have.
    Had to verbally tap. OUCH.

Concussion, Dislocated my left knee, broke right foot. Tore a few muscles connecting my ribs to my back. Plus more cuts, bruises and sprains that I can remmber. But I love it and woudln't trade it for the world.

Broken a lot of bones, fucked up my floating ribs bad on both sides, pulled muscles countless times, two severe dislocations of the shoulder, etc, etc...

I'm fine now though. It's common if you train hard. I don't know a single person that trains hard and hasn't been injured atleast a few times.

I just have bad injuries (breaks, dislocations) from hockey, nothing from jiujitsu... yet. :hs:

In a year I've dislocated a rib, broke a couple toes, and my shoulders make funny noises. And that's training casually for fitness and fun, not for competition. But I've constantly got odd bruises and seem to walk funny no matter what.

But it's better than getting injured playing pick up basketball or racquetball or something.

i split my pinky toenail in half the other night at judo, worst thing before that was just bloody knuckles and a scary moment with a 300+ guy rolled over my knee wrong (bent/popped inwards, but no snapping/tearing ligaments thank god). stubbed toes/banged up ankles and shit. nothing really serious so far for me.

I had one testicle wrap around the other one (inside the sack) and cut off circulation to it. When I finally got in they said it was dead and it had to be removed. I wanted to keep it in there regardless if it was functioning or not, but they said since it couldnt get blood to it it would be a risk for infection and it would just deteriorate in my sack.

Nothing as serious as some of the others posted... dislocated and broken toe in BJJ class, and "severe trauma" to my hand and thumb in my MMA fight. Everything else just minor bumps and bruises daily.

honestly, worst i have gotten is a torn groin. other than that, mostly just foot and ankle injuries. I think I got more injuries skating when I was younger.

my back gets strained a lot, but I have a very long spine and have slouched almost my whole life, so it's kind of hard to avoid. besides that I've had a couple broken toes, but nothing else besides the usual bruises, mat burn, busted lips and black eyes :bigthumb:

I'm taking more time off after reinjuring my hand again. I'm thinking of going to the doctor again or going to a different one for a second opinion. Either it was broken, or I just need to stay out of the gym completely for a while since I am constantly reaggrivating it.
