Bolt action was fun the first time out but I like the AR design more.

    Am I nuts?

Never been an AR10 fan, I'd keep the bolt, or get a M1A.

If you don't like the 5R then get something else.

If just want a semi-auto .308, then a FAL, PTR91, or M1A would all be on my list before a .308 AR.

If you like the AR platform and want to do long range precision shooting then look at 6.5 Grendel.

I can't fathom the amount of money i'd decimate with a semiauto .308, although i desperately want an m1a

I have a fal, an AR10 and a 5r. They each do something well but its WAAAAY more fun to shoot the 5r and cheaper because of the lower rate of fire.

    Keep it!

Personally I think there is a place and a time for every kind of gun, I've got a lever action 30-30, a bolt action 22, a pump action 30-06, and a semi AK. Its great to have the choice and have a weapon that suites your mood that day. Personally the semis for me are just good for going out and basting and not being too involved, but the lever, pump and bolt . . . well there is just something satisfying to me about them.

I say keep the bolt and get a semi later down the road, no use parting with a gun there is nothing wrong with.

You need to buy yourself a big ass safe. That way you won't sell any gun to buy another. I'm on a mission to fill that sucker up. It's gonna be a while :o

Well, this is no longer an issue since I just paid to have my girlfriend's dog operated on and that was the money I was going to send with the 5R. At least the "brat" is okay

Oh well. You still have a nice rifle and hopefully your generous donation to the veterinarian gets you laid.
