Now researching practice and carry ammo as well as holsters.
Good choice, personally I use 148gr full wadcutters in the cylinder and carry a couple 135gr +p speer in speed strips.
Not straight up.
BTW, It's the no internal lock version.
Good call on no straight up trade...
Wouldn't you want an internal lock? As in, it won't fire unless the trigger is pulled?
No internal lock meaning less parts inside of the gun. There have been reports of larger guns locking up when being dropped.
sarcasm nigga do you speak it
Guns are serious business.
I like how the 148 gr wadcutters shoot (more than the jhps) but the wadcutters are seated flush with the case. Guiding a jhp into the cylinder from a speed strip is much easier than a wadcutter round.
Im gonna get Remington 158gr LSWCHP +P loads aka FBI load aka Chicago load.
The HK is a lot more fun to shoot! I prefer having a positive safety on my pocket guns.
That was what I started with too but look for the gel tests with it out of a 2" barrel. Of a 4" barrel they do tend to expand, out of a 2" barrel they usually don't expand through fabric. I figured I might as well get less recoil and the sharp edge of a full wadcutter if it wasn't going to expand. If you're ordering online consider adding a box of winchester super-x 148gr wadcutters, X38SMRP so you can at least shoot them back to back and compare how well you can hit with both.
If I cant get it locally, I was planning to order from www.ableammo.com.
No its more about the tissue crushed. Tissue is elastic and will stretch and flow around round nosed bullets. A fmj or semi wadcutter might leave an actual physical hole only 60-70% as wide as the bullets diameter. The full wadcutter will crush tissue about 100% as wide as the bullet. Given the very poor expansion of the 158gr fbi load out of a 2" you not only wind up with a load that has more recoil and quite possibly won't expand, but it might leave a smaller wound than the round that wouldn't have expanded to start with.
I ordered a Mika pocket holster this morning.
I tried registering for tacticalforums a long time ago but they dont acccept msn email addresses. They used to let you view without registering but that's changed.
If you ordered direct from Mika, expect a 2 month wait, that is how long it took to get mine.
I just read about the wait. Ill probably pick up a Don Hume or DeSantis Nemesis or Uncle Mike's in the mean time.
This was posted in March on THR.
Yeah I try to include the link but also copy and paste the relevant bits of info for that reason. I asked the admin's to change but they felt it was a step that would help prevent people from taking their intellectual work without giving them credit and I believe they said even save them a little bandwidth (I'd have to look for the old PM's to be sure). I still disagree with the decision heh.
Shot 30 something rounds through it today. I wasnt consistant with it but I got decent groups. Was using Independance 130gr FMJ. Also picked up a pack of Bianchi speed strips. Next up is a CTC LG-405 laser grip.
How does Doc measure the Gold Dot 135gr +P Short Barrel?
And I can understand why, the FBI load just isn't pleasant in the 642.
My carry load is taken from the doc too
The speer gets the ok stamp too of course
Any specific wadcutter he/you use? Brand and part number. I'm gonna have my shop order me the GD 135gr on Tuesday.
btw, the short barrel gold dot number is 23921.
edit, I did some more reading and ive read that the 53921 is the exact same cartridge but sold in 50rd boxes.
Can you take a picture of yours?
It only looks like the casing is in the pic.
