the whole thing is getting retarded

see toyotas press release, id like to know what system he 'shorts' and how he manipulates it?

for all we know he could have sent a signal to the throttle to accelerate.

Until i see some scientific basis for what he done and how it could happen i see no reason to beleive it

you assume most people have some sort of understanding of what all that means

they know D is for driving, and the other functions are just some scary modes no one uses

    This is true.

BUT look at all those wires! They must mean something!

If they dont know what the indicators on their shifter mean, then they shouldn't be driving a car.

Why not take this back to basics and connect the fucking gas pedal to a throttle control directly on the engine to allow or decrease fuel. Why do they have to use all these fucking electronics for something so basic?

    So lets recap this video

    - Install circuit board to "re-enact" what could potentially happen by shorting out who knows what :hsugh:
    - Shift into neutral and the car had no problem stopping...Hmm...

The average woman grew up on 80's model cars and older. There is no excuse. Unless they traded them in every 25,000 miles.

Honestly, I had my gas pedal get stuck under the floormats one time. I panicked and first reaction is to jam on the brakes, which of course dont work.

OH GOD WHAT A GENIUS IDEA!!! Nope, better not do that though, lets use a bluetooth wireless connection to control the fuel and brakes.

I've always felt this issue was software/electrical and not some mechanical issue with the pedal or floor mats.
