I've got a big tourney coming up in 2 weeks that JJ Machado is hosting. I'm planning on competing at 159 in gi, no gi, and also absolute. This is how my last two weeks of training is going to be:

    Monday
    Morning:
    Run
    Afternoon:
    Lift
    Gi 2-3 hours

    Tuesday
    Morning:
    Sledge Hammer work
    Afternoon:
    Gi 2-3 hours

    Wednesday
    Morning:
    Run
    Afternoon:
    Lift
    No Gi 2-3 hours

    Thursday
    Morning:
    Sledge Hammer work
    Afternoon:
    Gi 2-3 hours

    Friday
Might lift depending on how I feel

    Saturday
    Morning:
    Judo

    Sunday
    Rest

I'm only doing 1 day of no gi because it's pretty solid. There are a lot of schools in my area that focus on gi as well so I've got to be as ready as I can. Atleast half of the people that usually compete in nogi around here are pure wrestlers.

I'm going to take a few days off before the tourney and I will hopefully be able to get vids for you guys. I have a video camera, but it's pretty old and I'm not sure that it will hook up to the comp. Any good ones out for around 150?

    Any suggestions?

This is very similar to my typical routine. Everything is pretty low key. I have no trouble recovering.

Funny the you mention psychology. I am actually reading up on optimal mindsets for performance and am trying to put together a bunch of things im going to read and listen to before the event. It may sound silly to some of you, but it worked for me when I played semipro paintball so hopefully it will work here.

  8. Looks good. Try some hardcore cardio like running on the sand, hike up a steep mountain, or something mroe challenging. Then take it easy the next week and remember, no sex for two weeks before a tourney ;)
