So lately I have been in to retouching photos of people. Smoothing out the face, accenting the eyes, removing blemishes like pimples/scars/etc. It is so freiken fun!

I run the pics through Light Room 2 to adjust the overall quality, then go to work in photoshop. After about 10min a picture, the results are beautiful!

Anyone else in to this? Are there good sources of information to learn how to become better at this?

    Thanks! :bigthumb:

PS I'm at work or I'd post some examples. :wtc:

Retouching is my least favorite part. It has to be done but shooting is so much more fun than sitting at a computer.

there are plenty of people who call themselves "Photoshop Wizards" or market to the photography world as "Retouch Specialists" etc. All they do is take the images sent to them by the photog and then work on them to get the "most out of each image possible" etc...their rates can vary depending on how much work they put into it.

i know this photographer that does "batch edits" on his models. it's a lot easier than manually fixing the imperfections on the girls, but man some stuff looks like ass. any jewelry or tattoos loose major detail. looks shitty if you ask me.

i know right? i need to invest in a 2nd wide screen monitor to better shop.

but IMO that model was blurred way too much in the face. doesn't look real. i like to try and keep some damn bone structure for crying out loud :eek4:

there's a lot of "glamour" photogs that will simply shock you with their work

There's one in Houston who I always say "You can walk into the studio a size 14, but your prints come out a size 2":o:eek3::rofl:

:bowrofl: looks so bad once they pass the "unrealistic" look. the skin turns to rubber and it just looks horrible. a lot of people suck so bad

oh no...his work is good, it doesn't look fake...he's just good at what he does...

but when you look at the models port you're misled and not getting what you see when you book her:o.

There are models we will not work with if we only see work by these couple of photogs in the area. Because we don't know how they're going to look when they knock on the door.
