I don't know a lot about Toshibas, but the previous generation seemed to pretty uniformly have trouble with overheating.

You can get a USB bluetooth adaptor that barely sticks out past the port (like <1/4") for $30. That gives you a lot more options.

The Tecras aren't bad... I've had experience with the A7, A8, and A9. I've never seen overheating issues, but what I have seen consistent across all three series is that the keyboards SUCK. Keys start to fall off very prematurely, not through any sort of abuse. Otherwise, the rest of the hardware tends to be halfway decent.

The main reason for me looking a Toshiba is I've had a Satellite Pro for 4 years with no problems. The hinge finally broke :( and it's $90 for a hinge so I think it's a good time for an upgrade.

Meh. Get the hinge replaced and keep it as a spare. $90 to get a laptop fixed is actually a pretty good price.

Where are you getting your price of $90 from?

    From a quick Ebay search
    http://shop.ebay.com/items/_W0QQ_nkwZtoshibaQ20satelliteQ20hingeQQ_armrsZ1QQ_fromZR40QQ_mdoZ

There's even a listing in there for a screen AND hinges for $60.

Not sure what model you have though...

Yeah I looked on fleabay. It's a 2455-S305, there are no hinges listed. I got the price from another site that has the video on how to change the hinge - forgotten the name right now.

Any other suggestions for < $1500 range?
