Hello, I am new to torrents. I have ABC, but is there anything else I should be running along with it*? :naughty:

I'm not really using it for what people usually use it for...but I fell like i still need protection... :noes:

At some point in time, this discussion is likely to cover things you can't discuss in here.
You should go to the main forum with this.

What is this ABC of which you speak? I know of AVG...are you looking for virus protection or what? In terms of using it differently than how others use it, it's just a file share program, people just share different types of files. :naughty:

ABC torrent bits it. I use to use it but I started having a lot problems with it.
uTorrent is great, clean and simple.

Just have a firewall up and a good anti-virus.

You should get Peer Guardian 2. Regardless of whether you're innocent of any copyright infringement or not, you don't need corporate watchdogs connecting to your computer.

Peer Guardian slows my connection to shit. But I still use it sometimes.

Ip addresses are big money for law firms these days.

I use FrostWire. It is the exact same as LimeWire except it has BitTorrent support and a chatroom.

Looks like a really great piece of software, though I've never used it.

Newsgroups are pretty fast, but then they aren't exactly P2P.

You know, for your legal downloading purposes.

I'm very happy with my Linux bittornado client. It works just fine with any site that I use for my legal downloading purposes!

Get the free trial of TrendMicro's Internet Security 2007. Supposedly more functionality with a smaller footprint than NAV. I've just installed the client/server version at work but havn't played with the standalone version yet.

Try it and tell us what you think. http://us.trendmicro.com/us/home/home-user/index.html
