ok, i'll admit that i have no idea what i'm doing when it comes to bit torrent. that said, it seems that my connection sucks compared to everyone elses. everyone will be downloading at ~200 and i'll be at like 6. i have cable connection to the internet and a pretty fast machine (amd 2800), so it's not the hardware. Do i just have it configured wrong or something else i'm missing?

    Do you have a router?

You need to open up and forward certain ports on your router to your machine. The ports are usually 6881-6999. You also want to limit your max uploading speed depending on the client program you use. The default is usually 0 for unlimited, so you have to play around to get your best speed. I usually keep mine at 6 or so and then change it back to unlimited when I seed.

Check out the forums at lickmytaint.com. They have a huge FAQ/Help section on setting up BitTorrent.
