    i'm new to this whole torrent thing.. but i'm using BitComet to downloaded a documentary.. it's been on 95.4% for several days; how can i decipher this information?

    seed/peer[all]
    0/2[0/49]

    why isn't the file downloading? :confused:

    how big is the documentary? Your problem is nobody is seeding so nobody is sending the last bit of the documentary.

    0=Ones actually connected you that are sharing the document with you.
    2=Ones that are actually there, but you're not connected too.

    0=Same
    49=Same

    At least that's how I've always thought of it. :dunno:

    With torrents you could have 50 people that already have this item but if 48 of them are connected to the internet with their torrent program running but it is paused or stop they are not seeding it only two are going to provide you with the bandwidth needed to download it

    If you are not sharing a certain percentage yourself, then they won't seed to you as well. Just a possibility.

    oh ok. well if this kinda occurence is normal then of course i should just wait it out, right

    well ive never saved any preferences limiting the sharing of my files or messed with the default settings of bitcomet, so i dont think that's the problem broski

    The best way to think of it is like this. You are downloading from those with more of the file than you while you upload to those with less.

    0/2 is you're connected to 0 people who have the full file, and connected to 2 people who don't have the full file.

    [0/49] is that there are 0 people who have the full file at all in the torrent swarm (whether you're connected to them or not), and 49 is that there are 49 other people who don't have the full file (whether you're connected to them or not).

    you should redownload another torrent if you wish to finish that file.

    Always download files with the most seeders if they are identical, you should never run into problems that way. I've never had a torrent stop like that, I only down if there's more than 50+ seeders on small files, 100+ on larger files.

    awesome. thanks for that information, it really helps with perspective

    its still at 95.4% with 0/1[0/50], what do u mean by redownloading? do i cancel and download again, or keep it going and find another source to download from -- i dont remember what site (piratebay, etc.) i originally clicked to dl from though..

    wrong, 0 (connected seeders) / 2 (connected peers) [0 (total known seeders) / 49 (total known peers)

    until the number of connected seeders is > 0 you will never be able to download from that torrent
