Well, this isn't exactly workout related, but I was hoping someone could give me some input.

Last week while I was working on my bike, it rolled off the kickstand and fell on my right knee, the intense pain/pressure on my kneecap caused me to react without thinking, I grabbed the bike and stood it back up (almost 345#) without proper form.

About an hour later I started to feel pain in my upper back, the muscle in the center of my back, between my right shoulderblade and spine from my neck to armpit ([FONT=arial,sans-serif][SIZE=-1]Rhomboideus major?) is EXTREMELY sore, I've got a constant throbbing and numbness in my right arm with intense paralyzing pain whenever I try to get out of bed, or up from a sitting position. And a slight tenderness in the same area on my left side.

I've kept it as immobilized as possible over the last week, and I'm popping rapid release tylenol like it's candy. Along with keeping a heating pad on it when I'm home.

I've had lower back issues for many years, but this upper back pain is driving me nuts.

It's been 7 days, and I haven't noticed any improvement.

Is there anything else- short of a chiropractic visit [no insurance, low on funds after the holidays] to speed up the recovery? Will a low dose of creatine help the muscle heal itself?

    Any ideas?

That sounds pretty serious, but you could try Arnica cream. You can get it at Whole Foods...it's an anti-inflammatory and it works wonders on muscle pain.

That may help with the surface pain but he sounds like he has a deeper issue...

You need to see a doctor but all he will do is prescribe muscle relaxers, try an epsom salt bath and a massage...

I spoke to a nurse friend of mine and she said the same thing.

I picked up a couple vicodin, and I'm taking a 1/4 of the normal dosage, just so I can function (it's a balance between feeling pain, and feeling completely loopy).

Is there anything else I can do that will speed up the muscle repair? I don't want it to take so long that I build up a tolerance to the pain killers.

    Nurses aren't real doctors.
