In California if one were to somehow obtain a ccw we can only list up to 3 guns that we intend to carry. What are your picks? What about the sig 239? What caliber is the best, in your opinion? :)

I've been carrying for a while now, and the name of the game is comfort.

The average fire-fight is less than 7 rounds.

The average fire-fight takes place in less than 10 feet.

Pick something that is comfortable, accurate, and powerful.

My three? Walther P99, Sig Sauer P229, and...well...that's it.

If you want single stack, the p239 is the only way to go. I recommend .357 sig.

    P239 kicks ass, I love my 9mm.

    Maybe a USP Compact

I do like the compact and subcompact glocks too.

Either sub compact or the sub-compact. It really depends on your size and method of carry. I am a small person so I usually pack my G26, but my G19 gets a bit of carry time every now and then, and in the cold months I tote my G30, it is inbetween the compact and sub-compacts but a tad bit thicker.

yes, let's prepare for the "average" firefight, and hope for the optimum outcome. what kind of fools are you people? average means there's some worse and some better. on the offhand chance that i'm in the worst one, i want everything i can get.

that's what i was thinking. but, hey, maybe this guy has some magnificent insight into the world of law enforcement, and their secret desire to have inadequate firepower.

I never said anything about carrying inadequate firepower, it is just that your post was in reference to the above post regarding the average firefight... if you were in LE you would know that by average that means "the vast, vast majority" of firefights... the more public-media known fights are the few that get out of hand, and in those situations no handgun is going to cut it.

Comfort and accuracy are > round capacity for an off-duty or ccw gun.

Usually, people who do not train above shooting at paper targets like to think they need to carry more ammo than an ac130.

    you stated
perhaps a law enforcement reference wasn't the best, instead it should say "You must never have trained in a combat situation before"

i'm still wondering why you would prepare for the average gunfight? you prepare for the worst gunfight. or, you could be an idiot, i don't care.

and explain how training is going to change the application of common sense. the average person would realize that the average firefight doesn't averagely happen to the average person. yet, you carry a pistol in case of one.

so, by carrying a pistol for defense, you acknowledge that the situation can be worse that average day. the average day being uneventful in the way of firefights. but, you refuse to acknowledge that IF one of those unaverage firefights happens, you might need more than the average number of rounds for more than the average amount of time. spill some logic on your argument, because it's drying up.
