I just realized the other day that I have the Military Channel and saw a repeat episode of Top10.

    Where's the Mosin love. :wtc:

They take service life and units made into consideration. But besides those points, I'd delete the Aug...add a Mosin, lower the M16 and raise the M14.

    Maybe like this:

    10. Enfield
    9. 1903
    8. Mosin
    7. FAL
    6. M14
    5. Sturm 44
    4. K98
    3. M16/M4
    2. Garand
    1. AK47

Shit, where's the SKS go...this is hard lol.

    What would WMD do? 'WWWMDD'

Don't think I'd put the SKS on the list, although its seen combat I dont think its actually ever been an Army issue weapon durring wartime.

I watched that a few weeks ago and the whole time I was wondering when the Mosin would come up.

M16/M4 shouldn't even be in the top 5.

how can you ignore the one rifle that has been used for 116 years? (IIRC, they still make sniper rifles with mosin actions)

    AUG shouldn't be there.

While it is an innovative rifle it's just one of many polymer bullpup designs and has had relatively little impact on the battlefield.

I'd keep the AK47 in the #1 spot and put the M1 in the #2 spot

They count down to #1. It's the first on the list.

"Top" can mean a lot of things...Most innovative, longest service use, largest number in use, etc...What exactly does this list mean by top? That would certainly influence my answers.

    Edit:
"They take service life and units made into consideration"
Owned by lack of reading comprehension.

I'd argue that those qualities alone don't make for a "top" weapon.

Edit #2: G3 should be in there also.

mausers are cool and all, and I want a K98, but I definitely wouldn't call them #1. yes bolt action rifles are still made based upon the mauser bolt action, but its top "military" rifles, not top "hunting rifles still in production"

    troof!

ive spoken to a number of guys in the Aus army, and they say that its the coolest battle rifle out there it is very hard to maintain, and is a constant jammer.

I put about 700 rounds through the one I owned and never had a problem with it. Don't know if it makes a difference, but it was a VERY early Interarms imported one. I loved it and I'm sorry I made the mistake of selling it.

    :dunno:

The ones the AU army uses are all made in Lithgow Australia.

That explains the jamming... I kid, I kid!

The AUG is a fine rifle used by many US departments and many countries. It just isn't that historically significant.

the guys that are complaining are all my age (24), whereas i worked with an ex-army who was involved in the testing of the rifle when they were replacing the L1A1 FAL :uh: and the M16 in the late 80s, the older guy told me the test rifles were sent from Austria and worked flawlessly.

i guess they just arent making the newer ones as well here in Aus, no fault of the rifle i guess.
