I had trouble shooting this last night.

The solutions to the problems i encountered would be, a top down view finder so i dont have to be lying on the floor trying to look thru the view finder, and a tripod that will open its legs to almost completely flat. :hsd:

    Do such things exist?

live view would help too, but obviously a right angle viewfinder would be cheaper.

I concur. However you pulled it off without need of such bourgeois accessories. Good job.

    :dunno:

I thought that's what he was asking for.

I never shoot from that low, I guess it would depend on the situation, I think you'd have more control doing this as opposed to proping up the lens with something? easier to get the exact shot you want I guess.

I used the Porsche owner's manual under the camera...
The reason i want a tripod or something like a platform is because the battery grip is cumbersome, and i needed to angle upwards a bit.

Using LiveView is a possibility. :o I still havent figured that one out on the D300.

The camera was not balanced at all by propping it up. And i didnt have anything around at the time.

ALSO, i need something taller than 5' for a tripod.

I think they make something that's like a mini periscope that you attach to viewfinder and view from the top

I saw a video of a Basketball shooter who set his remote camera on the floor and angled it up with a couple of AA batteries taped together under the camera. Worked like a charm.

I guess I was just thinking about the time it would take to switch the tripod center column from vertical to horizontal vs. setting the camera on the ground and propping it up with something.
