I bought it a couple weeks ago and it was TRASHED. It was mechanically maintained, but aesthetics, meh. It's like the previous owner didn't care. I spent an entire day detailing the shit out of it. Tossed in some new fogs with Lamin-X and called it a day.

    C/C welcome.

As I was taking the above shot, this goose walked up to some ladies that were sitting at a bench. I decided to grab a few shots. He was hissing like mad every time I stepped closer.

You can tell I was using the 50mm f/1.8 II, look at the horrible bokeh from a distance.

No, I didn't play with the saturation. This is how we do trees during fall in Michigan.

    SVT son!

It's not the fastest thing on the road, but I didn't buy it for that. It's fun as hell to drive.

    Booo. :mamoru:

I can't remember, but I think that's one I shot with the kit lens. I used it about 10 shots and then said fuck this thing. I really need to find a suitable replacement for that sad piece of garbage.

Not that I could give an honest judgment personally, but one of the members on FJ (Focus forum) said his SVT handles better than his STi. :o

location, lighting, framing, colors, sharpness.. all need improvement. images look like they came from a point & shot camera, to be honest. nothing about those images stand out - the car doesn't pop out from the background since there's no separation from the focal point and the background.

personally, I hate using nature settings for back drops since my eyes wander and look at the trees.

here's a shot from this past weekend:

Not the best setting, but decent. We drove around and I saw the blue garage doors, which complement the red vehicle. Reflections from the tractor is a bit annoying but oh well.

Find locations that work with the vehicle, not against it.

Derrict, what lens did you shoot that pic with?

I was using my 50mm f/1.8 II and there's not much leeway (at least that I've discovered so far) in getting a nice backdrop blur.

I need something more versatile. I'm looking at this extra money I've got coming on today's paycheck and thinking about getting another lens so I can throw the 18-55 kit lens off a bridge.

    70 200 2.8L IS

The 50 is capable of some decent blur; it's just a matter of vehicle positioning and the distance from the background. For frontal shots, I like to shoot ~ 3.2-3.5. For front quarter or rear quarter shots, I'll shoot 3.5-4.0, sometimes 4.5 if I want more of the car in focus. I'll tweak the settings depending on my focal range; if I'm using ~ 70mm, I'll shoot closer to wide open. If at 200, I'll stop it down a bit extra.

There is SOME blur to the backdrop on this one. When open full-screen it's more evident than in the tiny 640x800 above.

Here's a bit larger one, maybe it'll show up better.

    Looks slow. :o

    Any better? :hs:

EDIT: Yes, I hate those weeds in the front of the car. Shoulda yanked 'em out of the ground or pulled the car on top of them but meh, a little late to whine about that now.
