put down the camera and take up knitting?

Dont take it the wrong way, but you need to either take your camera out of your house, or do something creative.

don't be a bunch of dicks.

#1 to much going on in the background and it looks like you used the onboard flash? your subject (the water bottle?) is towards the center of the frame. Were you trying for a product type shot?

#2 probably your best shot of the 3. it's got a few hot spots, but not to bad. Re-shoot it without the person in the background.

#3 it's just a snapshot of your cat with to much empty space.

I agree. It was just a few minutes I had to mess around and try to get some shots with a new camera. You guys have to figure I have used a dslr maybe 3 times in my life and it shows I realize that. Thanks to the guys that could actually consider that and give me feedback on what not to do, it was much appreciated, I am just trying to learn.

    Stop the dead center framing.

Get a napkin, and some tape or a rubberband. Experiment with the flash.

    Leave your house.

yeah i can, i knew they werent great, i was just seeing what i could do better or different "besides not taking pictures" to get better. I know its a far stretch for some of you, but maybe suggestions on how to contrast the subject or other things to make a shot look better and improve myself. Thanks anyways though...

It's hard not to be, what is there to critique?, it's boring subject matter. "Oh yes!, a water bottle."

To the thread starter, just try to start off by finding interesting subject matter.
