OK, someone shoot me. I've been suckered by apple marketing. I just placed an order for a 2.5ghQuad :noes:

    Specifications
    2.5GHz Quad-core PowerPC G5
    4GB 533 DDR2 Non ECC SDRAM- 4x1GB
    250GB Serial ATA - 7200rpm
    QUADRO FX 4500 512MB SDRAM
Bluetooth Module + AirPort Extreme Card
    16x SuperDrive DL (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)

I also got an iSight (WHY?!) and a Black iPod Video, Z-5500 speakers.

Apple Credit is gonna LOVE me. :hsd:

Very interested to hear and learn about the performance of the Quad.

I want to upgrade, but really can't think of any practical reason I need more power then my current Dual 2.5 can provide. :hs:

no need to upgrade, but if someone came from a single 800mhz g4, this would be an incredible jump. enjoy your machine!

You didn't list a screen... So i want to know what screen do you already have. If you got some crappy resolution card the QUADRO is gonna be a waste. Maybe if you hook it up to a 50" DLP it'll kick ass.

Why would a 50" dlp be kick ass? chances are the native resolution on it isnt all that high.

I got the bigger video card because I dont feel like having it antiquated in a year.

I am coming from a 1.25 G4 and I will be using my 23" Apple HD.

and yes, I do design among other things

I don't :hsugh: I never asked why he wasted his money, that was a statement.

Anyways, seriously. You could have gotten a 100 times better pc with all that money, plus a 24" display, etc.

I'm not going to disagree, my only issue with OSX is compaitbility. If OSX and the hardware could handle bf2, hl2, fear, etc. It'd own, but until then I will still only use OSX for notebooks and PCs for desktops.

edit~ and by the way, I bet I put my iBook through more stress then that guy'd ever put that mac he just bought through :o

    1. I could have gotten a better PC as far as marketing #s are concerned, but not as far as actual performance, stability and security.

    2. That isn't compatibility, that is unwillingness of the game makers to port their games. There are many games out for OSX and many many more coming. Mac has a large enough market share that more and more new titles will be released for the mac. On a side note though, most mac users could care less about games because we prefer to be productive with our time and get OUT of the house for entertainment. ;oP

    1. Uhm, No. My iBook has crashed more times then my PC used to, and you could build a better PC in every aspect (except the OS) with that money.

    2. You don't get my point, Macs arent good for games period.

    1. Then you fucked something up on your powerbook probably. And no, this machine will outperform any PC put to the same tasks. My 1.25 is STILL faster than my 2000+, 2500+, 3000+ and the P4 2.8. Eh.

    2. Macs aren't MADE for games, they are made for WORKING. Go figure.

    1. According to this your 1.25 is equal to a 1.2 ghz athlon.

Take the fastest amd processor out there, stick it into a system with everything top of the line and you'd have a 1000 time better system.

    2. THATS MY POINT DOUCHE, THATS WHY I PREFER A PC OVER A MAC FOR A DESKTOP.
