this is kind of vague but on one of the episodes of the sopranos, tony was doing presses in the basement of his house.

the machine he had was set up so he didn't need a spotter but it wasn't a smith machine.

it was kind of like the one in the following link the way it was hinged but the following isn't the same one and his wasn't a cable/pulley setup:

the above would be nice to put upstairs in the loft here but its a little out of my price range. i just want one i can use on days that i don't want to go the gym.

anybody know which one i'm talking about?

not a bowflex, traditional plate weights on a hinged arm affixed to a bar with a stop to prevent it from going below a certain level. no torsion bars, cables or pulleys.

if i knew how to take a screen shot of a DVD, i'd go through the DVD's and post a pic.

very similar but the plates only went on one centralized mount on the side of the bench, opposite the head.

this hammer strength equipment looks more like something i'd find in a gym. looks good quality but again, out of my price range.

Power cage with holes spaced at 1" or 2" intervals.

No need for a spotter when you bench.

Doesn't matter what he was using, it wasn't as good as just fucking benching.
