Im curious as to what the difference is between toning your chest, and building mass. Obv, building mass means a bigger chest, but when you tone your chest, what exactly happens?

ie. Yes i know what toning does everywhere else, just curious to see what a toned chest looks like

Creating a "toned" chest is nothing more than lowering your bodyfat percentage. You can't JUST tone up the chest, you'll have to lose bodyfat all around WHILE working your chest hard.
Typically when you drop bodyfat and hit the chest hard you will start to notice a bit of seperation between upper and lower pecs, and often the inside of the chest will develop striations.

Adding mass is working your chest and eating above maintenance. The chest gets bigger, but sometimes manboobs come with it and all striations and seperations are usually gone.

Either way, you need to tell us what your goals are, what your current stats are, etc.. for any feedback here.

Chances are though, even if bodyfat was low your chest isn't big enough to show off striations of vascularity.... I am going to take a shot in the dark and say to eat more and lift harder.

    +1

It's been nearly 3 weeks since my last meal and I have not touched a weight aside from weighed crunches. I'm almost there!

be careful, even thinking about weights might make you too bulky.

toning doesn't exist. only building muscle (heavy lifting) and low body fat(cutting)
