Has anyone been using a TomTom GPS navigation system in their car? I have heard that these are the best, and the maps are quite detailed. I am thinking about asking for on for xmas. Any thoughts?

my father in law has a TomTom 700 (highest model) and it worked quite well from Springfield MO to Kansas City Mo. Some of the roads are VERY rural, and it suggested a couple times that we use Business Routes through towns that weren't necessary, but when we would go past the turn, it was very quick to recalibrate and "catch up".

Prices are still pretty high on the 700. Cheapest I've seen it, but can't remember where now, was $700. Sam's Club in my area had it for $784 yesterday.

I have read a few reviews of the 300 and the 700 and they both look great. The reviews say the maps and routing are good on both devices and that the touch screens are easy to use. Now I have to decide which one to get.

Were you using the 300 or the 700? Where is the best place to shop for these devices?

I've been thinking of purchasing the PDA package for my Palm T5, but I am unsure if the PDA package gets the same software as the in car models.

    Does anyone know?

I am also interested in getting the software for my PDA and was wondering the same thing. I know that the car unit has a GPS reciever that the PDA wont, but is the software pretty accurate?

I cought my wife a 700 about two months ago and it is fucking great. we havent had any problems with it. The only time it gets confused is when you go into a large shopping center or a brand spanking new sub division. Other than that, it is perfect.

Newegg had them for 689 when i bought mine. With overnight shipping it was about $730

That is really good news about the 700. Newegg? I will have to give it a look....URL? Are you pretty pleased with the teleatlas maps? I understand these are the same maps used by google earth which makes me feel good.

I am still looking for a good price on the TT 300 or the TT 700. Anymore suggestions? Anyone have any feedback on either of these two devices?

Thanks. I am thinking the same thing. Both are great units, but the hands free dialing on the 700 is hard to beat. Do you have any experience with these devices?
