I was just there yesterday... no, not the one in Arlington. I was at the one in Athens, Greece.

I took a few pictures of them... apparently you're allowed to get right up there with them as long as you don't do anything stupid next to them. They are definitely very well disciplined. I didn't see the changing of the guards, but I did see them march around up there.. it was a sight to say the least.

    Here are the pictures:

Yup, that's an M1 Garand with a knife attached. That's pretty much the only reason I'm posting these pictures here.. I thought it was interesting that's what is the issued weapon.

 Although their uniform is a little gay fuzzy slippers and pantyhose :mamoru: Most ceremonial type guards have older style weapons, we use M14's, Ruskies and ChiCom's use SKS's.

I've been to the one at Arlington, it was a pretty cool experience. We watched the changing of the guards too...I couldn't do that shit, I don't take myself seriously :o

The marching I saw was pretty ridiculous.

They did some really weird high steps, they held their legs up, lots of funny arm movements, and the one thing that got me was the two guards faced each other and high stepped and they touched the bottom of their shoes together and held it...:riaa:

That's just about how they were walking... and they had those short skirts on, too!
