could it be the 1.5x crop on the Nikon vs the 1.6x on the Canon?

Damn I must have gotten lucky, when I had a Tokina 12-24 mine was sharp, had no vinetting and was one of my favorite lenses. Both you and L33tpilot have found failure in this lens.

Oh well now that I am on full frame the 14-24 has left me very happy.

Yep, I get it bad when the hood isn't on right. But at the widest, it will still show some signs of the edges. I usually just photoshop it out and move on.

even when it clicks, it isn't perfectly aligned. This is probably the one downside i've found with this lens but it's a very easy fix. if it was as much of a problem as some make it out to be, i'd have ditched this lens a while ago but i've had it since the 1st revision.

weird. i never even though about the hood being a problem. in any case i returned the 12-24 for the 11-16.

i did however have a brain fart this weekend and tried to put my 35mm 1.8 hood on my telephoto. they are similar, but the 55-200's is longer. i was like what the fuck why arent you clicking!
