I really want the Nikkor version, but it's just out of my price range.
has anyone used/owned this lens? is it worth the 500 clams?
any issues to be aware of?

i thought it was $400 new

i had 2 copies that were both soft. f/4 is meh. it takes f/5.6 to look good

ended up with the 11-16 2.8. very sharp lens

good to hear that, I'll check out that lens too.
I want to get something since I've been stuck with my 50mm 1.8 for a year and NEED a new lens.

if the 50 is your only lens, then you might want something besides a wide lens.

you might be happy with the tamron 17-50. much more general purpose lens, and the 17mm is decently wide.

it won't do any good because they're all resized and edited, but if you truly think it will help i'll look when I get home.

You really should be looking for a lens test website instead of sample photos from people. Too many factors go into how a photo is produced. I could drop my 50mm and crack the lens but still produce good results using a faster shutter & large aperture. :dunno:

Hell, I don't know of any. I'm sure you can search for lens tests or MTF charts or something.
